The ORTNER is a well proven concept for dewatering, removing fines, classifying and rinsing sand and other materials up to 60mm and has the performance capabilities and advantages unmatched by other machinery. It is currently used by the majority of the major aggregate producers in the USA.

The ORTNER can wash fine and course material up to 75mm providing the flexibility to produce many varied products
with one machine. Dry material may be fed to the ORTNER
to remove excess fines or rinse coarse material by adding a small quantity of water.

When fed a wet slurry, as from a density separator or a hydrocyclone, the ORTNER may be used to dewater the product. It may also be used to remove excess fines from
the slurry or it may classify the slurry.

How can I increase the sale price of my aggregates without spending a fortune?

By rinsing fine and course material prior to sale the price per tonne can be increased by several pounds.It is also necessary to rinse pre-coated stone and surface dressings prior to sale; this can be carried out with ease, using the Ortner for a low cost.

How can I remove excess fines (below 0.0075mm)  from natural and manufactured sand?

Removing -0.0075mm and below from sand is achieved using the Ortner for a lower operating cost than using a sand screw, as the Ortner has low wear and maintenance costs.

How can I dewater my sand to enable it to be sold straightaway rather than sitting for several days?

The Ortner when fed wet slurry, as from a dense medium separator or hydro-cyclone, the unit will dewater the slurry to enable it to be sold that day rather than leaving the product to dry over a number of days. The Ortner can at the same time remove excess fines or further classify the slurry.

How can I do any of the above with a site, which has limited power and water availability?  

The Ortner uses no more than a 16.5kW motor and the water consumption even on the largest unit (Ortner 4000) processing 190 tph of dry stone only uses 30 litres/second.

The operation and principle are simple. Material is fed to a slowly revolving pan on an incline and vibrated at high speed. The high speed vibration quickly separates the various sizes of material with the fines and water rising to the top and flowing over the weir to the discharge.

With the coarser particles sink to the bottom the rotating pan carries the settled particles up the machine and out of the water, where a stationary plough diverts the dewatered material to a centre discharge chute. The driving and vibrating mechanism is mounted under the pan, preventing any contamination with the water and processed material, thus increasing the life of the components. It is possible to vary the angle, speed, and vibrations of the pan. This gives the ORTNER a wide range of flexibility and increases its capacity and efficiency.
